VETERINARY SCIENCES

The Veterinary Sciences (VetS) Section is responsible for the medical management of the Museum’s live animals. In addition, the team provides support to other Museum staff and the public on topics of veterinary medicine, animal husbandry, nutrition, and public health. The VetS team has expanded the frontiers of Veterinary Medicine to include a novel field termed “Museum Veterinary Medicine.” This newly described area of medical focus, developed by the Museum, is based on the foundation of providing clinical care for the Museum’s collection of live animals. Museum Veterinary Medicine also focuses on the importance of education and transparency of process to illuminate natural science and health care to the public.
